This year, the Satchmo’s Jazz & Culture Festival, Lagos (SJL) becomes much more than a jazz music festival. We have created an exciting tapestry of entertaining events including festive threads of jazz (and nu-jazz) music, as well as jazz-inspired visual, and literary artists.
For the second year running, SJL also has the mandate of UNESCO IJD to produce the International Jazz Day (April 30, 2016) event in Nigeria. This year’s festival will also embrace fashion, film, and spoken word events, and feature the 2nd August Agboola O’Browne Lecture.
From the main stage at the Orintal Hotel, Lagos and other venues, participating galleries, restaurants, and hotels, the festival will reach thousands of live attendees and visitors throughout Lagos, the nation’s financial capital.
But our mission doesn’t end there. Throughout the coming year, SJL will sponsor and support the community by partnering with ongoing musical educational programs, and implementing its own unique mentor program. These programs, when fully implemented, will enrich the lives of young musicians, and college students. Your support will help them access musical learning from the best professionals available.
